On Tuesday, 10 June the inaugural flight from Kyiv to Kharkiv was operated by Dniproavia airlines.
With launching of this capital flight, a new step in mutually advantageous cooperation between Dniproavia and Kharkiv airport was made. It was told by their managers at the briefing after the first flight from Kyiv arrived.
“We start the new perspective stage of cooperation by launching the flight between Kharkiv and Kyiv. After this we are going to launch 7 flights on domestic and international destinations”, — Deputy Chief Commercial Officer of Dniproavia airlines Petro Falkovskyi said.
“First of all it is development – Petro Falkovskyi mentioned when talking about the significance of the event. – We are interested in the market of business activity and tourism of Kharkiv region and it is important for us to support region possibilities. We have suggested to fly from Kharkiv to Kyiv, to other Ukrainian destinations via Kyiv, to Caucasus and Europe. If we succeed, we will launch also these destinations”. In particular, he concretized, “in June we launch flights from Kharkiv to Batumi (weekly), Baku (twice weekly), Erevan (weekly) and Tbilisi (weekly), also we plan to fly to Moscow and Warsaw”. Moreover the airlines is planning to connect Kharkiv with Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk in winter, and in perspective – with the Crimea. “Flights by Embraer ERJ-145 with economy and premium economy class seats will make trips of our passengers comfortable and convenient”.
CEO of International airport “Kharkiv” Vladimir Vasilchenko called the new stage of cooperation with Dniproavia promising and effective. “If Dniproavia operates all planned flights, I consider it has all chances to become one of the leading airlines at our airport on the claimed destinations”, — Vladimir Vasilchenko told. He also said that by the end of 2014 International airport “Kharkiv”, as well due to the new flights of Dniproavia, will have served the same quantity of passengers as in 2013 – about 600 000.

International airport “Kharkiv” ( is one of the key objects of Slobozhanshchina capital, reconstructed in preparation for the finals of European Football Championship in 2012. Sizes of a new runway are 2500 х 45 m. Start of large-scale project was given on April 1, 2008, when New Systems AM LLC (a group of DCH, the owner – a well-known Ukrainian businessman, investor and general coordinator of Kharkiv’s preparations for Euro 2012, in 2005-2012 – the president of FC Metalist Alexander Yaroslavsky) won the competition for a long-term rent of the integral property complex of Kharkiv airport.
Reconstruction of International airport “Kharkiv” was made in the format of public-private partnership. The total investment to the project made by Alexander Yaroslavsky was $ 107.2 million (airport terminal and surrounding areas). The amount of funding allocated from the State budget for the reconstruction of the airport complex (including construction and airfield control tower) – $ 191.3 million.
