International airport “Kharkov” continues certification process of equipment mounted here after the reconstruction according to international standards. The first ICAO category has been recently conferred to ILS (Instrument landing system).
“During the airport preparation to Euro-2012, we had a task to equip Sloboganschina air gates with the most advanced technology solutions existing in general aviation field. Therefore the new runway is equipped with powerful ILS. It allows pilots to land in low-visibility conditions – e.g. during heavy precipitation or fog”, – underlined Vladimir Vasilchenko, CEO of New Systems AM (the operator company of International Airport “Kharkov” belongs to DCH group headed by Alexander Yaroslavsky).
Traditionally, equipment certification process takes quite a lot of time. Conferred ICAO category is one of the work stages in this destination. In the near future International airport “Kharkov” is going to prepare the documents for the second category acquiring for ILS.
ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) is a specialized United Nations establishment, which sets international standards of general aviation and coordinates its development to improve safety and effectiveness.
