In January 2022, Kharkiv International Airport saw 355 flight departures and total passenger traffic of 73,500 people. The figures kept showing a substantial increase year-on-year as flight departures rose by about 70%, and passenger traffic doubled. 

International flights carried 65,300 passengers, 105% up from January 2021, and domestic ones—8,200, 116% up.

The month’s top destinations were Istanbul, Sharm El Sheikh, Kyiv, Marsa Alam, and Kraków.

Summer preparations are underway already 

In end-January, Ukraine’s SkyUp Airlines revealed its plans for summer and launched ticket sales for flights from Kharkiv to 8 destinations. Flights to Barcelona are starting on 29 April, to Larnaka—on 1 May, to Prague—on 5 May, Heraklion—on 19 May, to Batumi—on 20 May, to Rimini and Tirana—on 1 June, and to Burgas—on 7 June. 

Wizz Air opened booking of its summer flights, too, with 13 destinations available: Vienna, Thessaloniki, Tallinn, Milan (Malpensa airport), Rome (Fiumicino airport), Larnaca, Berlin (Brandenburg airport), Dortmund, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Kraków, Budapest, and Pardubice.
