On 12 September, Kharkiv Airport Run 2021, a traditional annual runway running race, was held in Kharkiv International Airport. It has been the third instalment of the unique event that has not been held in any other Ukrainian airport thus far.

Over 900 athletes—professionals and amateurs alike—participated in 5-km and 10-km races this year. On the race day, the runway was transformed into a running track complete with fences, start and finish arches, and water stations.

The race winners were awarded medals, trophies, and prizes. Also, the first-place finishers won round-trip economy class tickets on Turkish Airlines’ flights.

On the men’s 10-km race, Ivan Stebkov, a Ternopil resident, showed the best result at 30 minutes and 47 seconds. On the women’s 10-km race, the best result was shown by Natalia Stebkova, also from Ternopil, at 36 minutes and 39 seconds.

The men’s 5-km race winner was a Poltava representative, and the women’s 5-km race trophy remained in Kharkiv. Volodymyr Bylym was the fastest among men here at 16 minutes and 29 seconds, and Natalya Musienko among women at 19 minutes 27 seconds.
